Transitional Living
Pre-Independent Living (Pre-IL)
For Pre-Independent Living, girls and boys aged 18–21 years old are eligible.
Boys & Girls Haven offers one of the few full Pre-Independent Living programs for boys and girls in the state of Kentucky. Our fully staffed and supervised dorm-style living provides young adults with the independence, accountability, and support needed to successfully transition from foster care to adulthood.
Our Pre-Independent Living program offers
Housing and Accountability
- Private, one-bedroom apartment
- On-site youth counselors provide 24/7 guidance and support
Independence Readiness Case Management
- Individualized assessments, coaching, career exposure, and access to a funnel of internships, apprenticeships, and job placements
- Banking and budgeting support
Health and Wellness
Access to therapy, case management, medical assistance, and psychiatric services.
Financial Assistance/Guidance
Weekly living allowance is provided.

Independent Living
For Independent Living, girls and boys aged 18–21 years with a high school diploma or GED are eligible.
Our scattered-site Independent Living program allows young adults to pursue education and a career path in an apartment in the community paired with a supportive environment on the journey from foster care to adulthood.
Our Independent Living program offers
Independence Readiness Case Manager
